National Garden Clubs (NGC) awarded a Plant America Grant (Grant) for Tulsa Garden Club to lead restoration of the Fountain Garden in the Teaching Garden (Garden) at Woodward Park.
Tulsa Garden Center’s acting executive director and director of horticulture Andy Fusco noted, We are honored to receive the support from the Tulsa Garden Club through the Plant America Community Project Grants program for new plant material in the Teaching Garden. Additional shade trees and other perennials in our Fountain Garden will revitalize it as a place of respite and relaxation, in addition to inspiring garden guests of all ages. We look forward to working with Garden Club Members and Teaching Garden Volunteers to make this project a success!
Organized in 1929, the Club has beautified Tulsa, presented and supported regional and global formal and informal gardening education programming. The Club provided the original plants and continues funding of the region’s historic rose garden in Woodward Park through its Rose Fund.
Education Committee Chair, Susan Foust, expressed gratitude to all who are collaborating in this renewal project. Thanks to NGC, Club Members, the City, the Center and Garden Volunteers, for your ongoing commitment to gardening education for all residents and visitors of all ages.
Club President Cathy Covington said, Each of us can impact our community through hands-on service and philanthropy every day. Join us in helping each other respect, learn more about and enjoy our natural world!
